Minutes for NARFE Chapter 1169

The NARFE Chapter 1169 met on 17 June 2008 at Tugus’s Restaurant in Moss Point. Twelve members and three guests were present: President Sam Weil, Treasurer Bob Balzli, Peggy Wilkinson, Linda Huey, Betty Barham, John and Jean Cirino, Ann and Oz Eckhoff, Archie Voda, Leroy Howell, and Peggy Wilkinson, with guests Wayne Wilkinson, June Sculthorpe and Ellen Balzli.

Oz opened the meeting with the Invocation and Sam led in the Pledge of Allegiance. In the absence of Secretary Annie Chambers, reading the minutes of the April 2008 meeting was waived. Bob then told a joke and read the Treasurer’s report for April and May. The reports were approved.

Sam reminded the group that the National convention was scheduled for September and we did not have a member volunteering to represent us at the meeting. As a result, we need to decide if a proxy is desired. A motion was made and passed for Sam to seek a proxy for the convention. He has received the proxy forms. He mentioned six (at least) known resolutions are to be voted on at the convention. He discussed four of the six he remembered and a lively discussion was held about the merits of each. The membership asked that he bring the six to the next formal meeting so each can be voted on.

No further business being present, the meeting was adjourned.
